Baby Big Girl Hair

Ugh where do I begin with this incredible little person!
Here is my baby big girl, as I like to call her, new hairstyle I tried out and actually enjoy for her.

Disclaimer before anyone starts trying to correct me:  I am not a hairstylist and simply winging it. My daughter's hair is healthy and unmanageable because I simply hate doing hair! So if you are a mom like me and your child's hair cannot withstand braids for over 6 hours or hate millions of pony tails, you too may enjoy this post. If not see you later :)

Now this hair style was simple and easy and perfect to dress up or down! Started by a nice wash in the shower, which is sometimes a struggle because of "my eyes mommy"! We use Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Complete Conditioning Co-Wash, 10 Ounce.

After the shower once she was dressed and dried, I used the LCO method (Liquid, Cream, Oil). I used the Cantu Argan Oil Leave in Conditioning Repair Cream, 16 Ounce. This is actually a personal product but I made sure to massage her scalp real good. Lastly I applied a small amount of Sunny Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil, 8 Fluid Ounce
Now because of her defined curls being sure to detangle her hair at least twice a day is a must and at this point her curls was popping. (should have captured a pic)

How did you get her to be so still you ask. Great old Peppa the Pig Playhouse! We "set up shop" at her table and as she sat at her table and played I was able to easily do her hair without all the terrible two whining and moving around.

I worked from the bottom up in 2 separated sections. We used black rubber bands for fine hair because I pop these off to avoid damage and pulling to her hair with other elastic bands.

I fully detangled and parted a small section at the bottom of her head. I then took that small section and split it in half. From there I made 2 small pony tails and twisted the lose hair in each. I repeated this step but before making the new pony tail in the second section above, I connected the lose hair from previous pony tail and then repeated this step.

For some reason I feel those instructions sound insane and one day a video will help. Until then I hope you are visual like me and can figure it out- sorry. Now at the top is where you get creative.

One Saturday we went to a birthday party and I let it hang more lose with a nice crown accessory I'll later post about in our " Featured Favorite Hair Accessories for Little Girls " post. School days, a nice pony or even two will suffice.

The best thing about this hair style is it's great for the school week and can last at least 3 days. you simply have to redo the top which is very easy and fast in the morning.

I think it's safe to say she enjoyed but what do you think? What are some great styles you have done or enjoy for your toddler? Also why kind of products do you like for very curly natural hair?
